Oh yes!

In mundo fuere,
Vadite ad superos,
Transite ad inferos,
Ubi jam fuere.

It was this on Facebook which started this chain of thought

Stunning Art Deco period building with a P&O flavour with those rounded glass windows, on Barcom Avenue in Darlinghurst, near St Vincent’s Hospital. Looks like it could have been a hotel but now converted and repurposed.

Photographer: Myriam Besso in 2023.

My response:

“Looks like it could have been a hotel!” OMG! Bloody oath it was! The Albury, mate — second home to so many of us and first home to some back in the day!

Sic transit….

A picture came to me….

Been a while since I played with FotoSketcher, so I did this one just now prompted of all things by that photo of The Albury in which the poster thought it had once been a hotel “Sic transit…” I said.

So in a dusty corner of my room in West Wollongong sit these two items from days of yore in another century indeed. The pewter is inscribed by the TIGS Class of 1974 to “Mr Whitfield”! The pic is Michael around 1990-92 — whom of course I met in the Albury Piano Bar on 12th July 1990! The photo was taken in the Chinese Garden in Darling Harbour.

Oh my!
