End of month brings tipping triumph at last, blog stats, and an election update

Yes at last — a Tipping Triumph! Rare indeed.

There seems to be something about this Indigenous Round that favours me. Last year for example:

Only an idiot would be finalising tips on a Monday — which therefore I have done. (This post is drafted on Monday.) There is a fortnight of truncated rounds because the State of Origin series occurs, meaning that some of the best players are unavailable for these two rounds. That of course can affect a team’s chances.

Supposed experts also dare at time to fly blind producing impressive looking statistical probabilities, which may have little relation to reality.

Without consulting that I came up with these tips for Round 13. THIRTEEN!

Well, we shall see!

Meanwhile May 2022 on this blog is turning out a bit behind other months this year, but similar to May last year. As at 30th May the most visited posts are:

If after 31st May anything remarkable happens to the month’s stats, I will add it here. Or any further reflection I may decide to make. The next post will resume replaying best photos from June 2012.

Australian election update: majority government

The ABC projects that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will lead a majority government. Labor has won at least 76 seats, and it remains possible the party could win more.

It means the government will not need to rely on crossbenchers to pass legislation through the chamber.

The Victorian seat of Macnamara has been retained by Labor, and as at end of counting on 30th May the seat of Gilmore south of Wollongong appears to be going to Labor. That would make 77 seats, allowing the new government to appoint a Speaker without losing their majority on the floor of the House.
